Graypel’s Review of Dementias and Adult Cognitive Impairments for Non-psychiatrists

The decline in cognitive function can make a negative impact on all aspects of the individual’s life. Their ability to think, and as a result their personality and behavior, may be affected to the point of this individual appearing as a different person. This, being initially mild, eventually becomes a point of severe concern for those around them.

While psychiatrists and neurologists are still working on deeper understanding of this condition and looking for solutions, it is imperative for everyone – even the layperson, to be educated on distinct types of, and different reasons for cognitive impairments, to be able to recognize these conditions and to provide an appropriate care for the affected individual.

This book is intended for those who deal with cognitively impaired patients on a daily basis. This includes primary care physicians, non-psychiatric providers in hospitals and long-term care facilities, home healthcare workers, and medical and nursing students entering the healthcare field. The book is written in layman’s language to be understood by a caregiver of any educational background. A special emphasis is placed on social aspects of the affected individual’s care.

What Our Patients are Saying About Us

Dr. Graypel has been fantastic with my dad. He is very responsive and understanding of his needs. My dad is complex and Dr. Graypel is always ready for what curveball is coming next. He is knowledgeable, communicates well and has great bedside manner. Our family is very lucky to have found Dr. Graypel!

McK 77 I was blessed to find Dr. Graypel about 2 years ago and I can say with confidence I will be with him until he chooses to retire which I hope he never does. Dr. Graypel cares and he is a gifted Doctor who has a gift for helping people. Furthermore the office employees are Kind and Respectful every time I call, they are never rude or short on the phone. The office staff consistently treat me with a bright and caring attitude. I would recommend this Dr. and they're office to anyone including my own family. Dr. Graypel and his staff are a Blessing to their patients, thanking Dr. Graypel & Staff for all you do!!!

Dr. Graypel assembled a great team in his office. I was his patient for quite some time and recently was switched to his NP, but every time I talk to her I see that she was trained by Dr. G. They have the same style, same bedside manners, and I feel very comfortable with this switch. Unfortunately I can't afford to have therapy now, but when I had it last year it was very beneficial to me, and I appreciate Dr. Ernest making me understand that it was a missing piece of my long psychiatric journey. I highly recommend this office!

My overall experience with Dr Graypel and his office staff has been great. I have been a patient of Dr Graypel’s for just over a year and have had nothing but excellent experiences. The first time I talked to Dr Graypel I felt like he knew me already and he had never met me before. I’m doing a lot better now than I was before meeting with Dr Graypel and his staff. I have come a long way in such a short amount of time. If you’re looking for a experienced psychiatrist to connect with you, Dr Graypel is it.
